WASFAA is again pleased to sponsor the 2011 Sister Dale Brown Summer Institute (SDBSI), being held at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. The SDBSI is a 6-day intensive residential training program designed to provide attendees with training on the fundamentals of administering the Federal Student Aid Programs. The curriculum is geared towards "new" financial aid administrators with two years or less of hands on processing experience.

Intermediate Level Summer Institute - June 8th-10th, 2011
This institute is geared to those participants who have been in the aid office for a while. These are individuals who: are taking on new responsibilities;or are looking to move up in the aid office; or are counselors, or have a change in their responsibilities.

Who are our Customers? Co-workers? The Generational Puzzle
Ethics in the Office & Profession - FERPA, Confidentiality, Privacy
High School nights and other venues
Verification, Professional Judgments & Special Circumstances - Beyond the Basics
Satisfactory Academic Progress & R2T4
Becoming a Successful Advocate
Exit Counseling Strategies
Case Study

Intermediate Level Institute Costs: Costs include instruction, printed materials, housing and meals.
Please note there is limited space available for participation.

$300 (double room/shared bathroom)
$200 commuter (includes all meals)

Participants may arrive early on June 4th for the basic level and June 7th for the intermediate level and/or stay an extra night on June 10 for an additional $50 per night. Meals for these days are not included.

Travel Plans/Arrival & Departure
Basic level Plan your travel to arrive in time for Check-in, which will begin Sunday, June 5, at 11:00 AM. The first instructional session begins at 1:00 PM. On Friday, June 10, the last session will end at approximately 11:00 AM, so please make your travel arrangements to depart after 1:00 PM.

Intermediate level: Plan your travel to arrive in time for Check-in, which will begin Wednesday, June 8th at 10:30 AM. On Friday, June 10, the last session will end approximately at noon, so please make your travel arrangements to depart after 2:00 PM.

Lodging & Meals
Participants will stay in the Residence Halls at Whitworth University. Meals that are part of the registration fee will be at the Dining Hall.
