What is a WASFAA RHS Leadership Development mentor?
- Dedicated professional, with a desire to give back!
- Provides a yearlong, one-to-one mentorship relationship to develop the next generation of leaders.

Length of Commitment
- Minimum one academic year.
- Connect with your assigned mentee every 4 to 6 weeks.
- Meet with other mentors every 6 weeks.
What’s Expected
- Be a supportive coach and mentor to an emerging leader.
- Provide a confidential, trusted space for problem-solving and growth.
Mentor Curriculum & Prospectus
- Meet initially with your mentee at the WASFAA JRS MLI or virtually via Zoom.
- Offer professional development resources (e.g., books by Brené Brown or John C. Maxwell, NASFAA’s You’re the Director – Now What?).
- Every 4–6 weeks, discuss a topic relevant to the mentee (e.g., staff morale, communication, budgeting, HR challenges).
- Every 6 months, assess your mentee’s goals to guide future conversations.
- At the end of the academic year, review the experience and share feedback with WASFAA leadership.
We are currently accepting applications (requires an active WASFAA membership and login) from seasoned professionals to serve as mentors in this impactful program.
